5 Emotional Support Dog-Sports To Try This Summer

Running, playing, and gathering all attention they can- these are dogs’ some of the favorite sports! What’s so special about the summer of 2020?

For most of us, summers are about longer days, scorching heat, no school, vacation, and more play-time with our pup! It is vital to spend some time with your dog, especially if it is an ESA. Remember to abide by each ESA Law.

ESA needs equal attention and playtime besides being an emotional support companion! How about teaching fascinating new dog sports? There are so many activities that you and your dog can enjoy together.

Work this summer of 2020 to teach your dogs new sports outside the comforts of air conditioners in the great outdoors!

Why Try a New Dog Sport?

Believe it or not- Dogs are capable of carrying out some really amazing things. For decades, they have been a companion to humans and stayed by their side. Because of this, our canine friends thoroughly enjoy working and playing. They love the tasks and tricks that we teach them.

Besides going for walks, car rides, a nice camping trip, there is a myriad of other sports for your pups to cherish. Dogs love to stay active, and that is why they love getting all drenched outside and running all over the garden.

Here are some sports to enjoy with your dog. These sports merely offer an opportunity to bond with your pup and have fun in exploring its capabilities.

Obedience

What is more satisfying than sitting in front of the air-conditioner and enjoying the cool air? But you and your dog can stay cool and still learn compliance!

Now, you might think what a mundane work for both you and puppy! But it can be a lot of fun and very competitive. Just consider how obedience can help your pup become a better dog. Whether you are at your home or outside in a public place, you will have a disciplined friend with you.

Teaching obedience to dogs means mental and physical exercise. It includes stay, sit, stand, bark, come when called, retrieve, jump over objects, and much more!

Rally

Have you seen dog competitions? One particular event where the pups steer through a course designed with their human by their side to navigate them. That is called Rally.

You can practice Rally at home or maybe in a garden. Design a course for him to follow. Steer him through 10-20 different signs by staying side-by-side to navigate. This sport is based on obedience too.

Rally challenges your pup’s brain and body to stay agile. You will soon observe that your dog grows fond of this training. The best part is that you and your dog get points for completing the exercise correctly.

Agility

Agility is dogs’ one of the strengths despite its breed. Dogs can work their mind and body at a fast pace. Trust me; you will be astounded to notice them make technical maneuvers.

This training is surprisingly fun for dogs as they love to learn tricks and stay active. It does not matter whether you are about to enter a contest or not. Just have fun out in the field with your dog.

Agility-training incorporates a variety of barriers to overcome. Once your dog perceives your training, he cannot wait for agility training!

Coursing Ability Tests

Keep your dog active with this Coursing Ability Test (CAT). This test is designed specifically for the newbies.

If your dog is the one who loves to run, fetch, catch, and chase things, then it is the perfect sport for him to get out and stretch his legs. CAT is not really a training; you may just head to the next test near you. Look how your dog enjoys it!

They can only get a Pass or a Fail- this doesn’t mean that it is difficult to achieve. Make sure your dog runs, doesn’t walk, to pass. But, if the dog fails to impress you with his skills, do not worry. Summers are to enjoy and for you and your dog to meet fellow dogs and dog lovers.

Scent Work

We all know- Dogs have a powerful nasal-sensation. It is a million times more sensitive, and hence they can locate objects by following smells.

Scent Work is to train pups to find objects using their sense of scent. In other dog-sports, both (dog and its human) had an active part in learning a sport. But, here, your dog becomes the star of the show as you’ll be unaware where the target smell is hidden. You entirely rely on your dog and follow his nose to victory.

Because of their heroic abilities to locate objects with ease, they are used as search and rescue dogs to find lost victims; in law enforcement and the military to look for drugs and explosives; in medical facilities to address cancers and other illnesses in humans.

Takeaway

Get ready to enjoy this summer with your pup. Also, ensure to have them cool before stepping out for an outdoor adventure. You do not have to whack your brains to uncover ideas to keep your mate chill. With thoughtful preparation and guidelines, keeping dogs cool, healthy, and content during summertime is easy. The most significant concern is to have fun and stay safe.
